UK Plug-in Solar
Plug-in solar became a thing in Great Britain in late August 2026. Compliant devices can now be plugged into a normal socket and registered online. A lot of people are looking for clear info on what actually qualifies and how to register it.
If you have (or are thinking of getting) a compliant plug-in solar device, the official registration site is:
myplugin.solar — the Energy Networks Association portal. You pick your exact device from the approved list.
Only devices listed as Compliant on the ENA Type Test Register (under the Plug-in Solar category) appear there. Check the specific model before you buy — not every product marketed as “plug-in solar” qualifies.
Note: The current UK plug-in solar regulations cover generation devices (solar panels + microinverter that export to the grid). They do not currently include plug-in power stations or battery systems. Those still sit outside the simple socket registration route — at least for now.
Compliant plug-in options
EcoFlow STREAM Plug-in Solar Kits (ENA Compliant)
Certain EcoFlow STREAM configurations are listed as Compliant on the ENA Type Test Register under Plug-in Solar (examples include ECOFL/21128/V1/A3 and ECOFL/21606/V1/A1 for specific panel + microinverter kits). These are the ones eligible for registration at myplugin.solar. Confirm the exact model matches a Compliant entry.
Voltacon 800W Plug-In Solar Kit (Hoymiles HF-800-WB + 2x JA Solar 465W)
Two 465W JA Solar panels with a Hoymiles HF-800-WB microinverter and 5m AC cable with UK plug. Listed as Compliant on the ENA Type Test Register under Plug-in Solar (VOLTD/21572/V1/A2, checked 19 October 2026), which is the reference the Amazon listing quotes.
UKSOL Plug-In Solar Pro Compact 515W Hybrid Mount Kit
Single 515W panel with an 800W microinverter and hybrid ground/wall mount (not for balconies). Listed as Compliant under Plug-in Solar as UKS-PRO-C-1-515-MZ1 (UKSOL/21008/V1/A4, checked 19 October 2026).
UKSOL Plug-In Solar Pro Plus 1030W Hybrid Mount Kit
Two 515W panels behind an 800W microinverter, hybrid ground/wall mount. Listed as Compliant under Plug-in Solar as UKS-PRO-P-2-1030-MZ1 (UKSOL/21012/V1/A3, checked 19 October 2026).
UKSOL Plug-In Solar Pro Max 1260W Hybrid Mount Kit
Two 630W panels behind an 800W microinverter, hybrid ground/wall mount. Listed as Compliant under Plug-in Solar as UKS-PRO-M-2-1260-MZ1 (UKSOL/21013/V1/A2, checked 19 October 2026).
Electrician-installed option (not a compliant plug-in device)
On its own, the EcoFlow STREAM microinverter is not a registered Plug-in Solar device. That means it can’t be used as a self-installed plug-in under the August 2026 rules, and it can’t be registered on myplugin.solar. It can still be installed compliantly by an electrician as a hardwired connection: it’s on the ENA Type Test Register as ECOFL/17537/V1/A1 in the general inverter category, so the installer notifies the DNO in the usual way.
EcoFlow STREAM 800W Microinverter
Microinverter for small solar setups. Dual MPPT, app monitoring, IP67.
I run one on my shed with some second-hand panels. It works well, but getting it installed in a compliant form takes a bit more effort than a plug-in kit.
Portable power stations
These are separate from plug-in solar (they don’t export to the grid in the same way), but they’re commonly used alongside small solar setups for camping or backup.
Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2
Portable power station around 1kWh with high output and fast charging. Frequently mentioned for home backup and outdoor use. LiFePO4 chemistry.
EcoFlow RIVER 3
Compact portable power station. Smaller capacity, lighter, useful for camping or short-term backup. Good entry point into portable solar-capable stations.
Jackery SolarSaga 40 Mini
Small foldable solar panel with USB outputs. Lightweight enough for hiking or topping up smaller power stations. IP68 rated.
